Senior Business Journalist / Managing Editor Mediaquest Corp. - United Arab Emirates Desired Skills & Experience The ideal candidate should have at least five years’ experience working on a weekly/monthly business publication. A strong background in investigative journalism is desirable, and newswire experience is a plus. A results-driven professional, you must be able to put issues into proper context and bridge the gap between the West and the Middle East. A firm grasp of the region's business and politics is essential. The role would suit reporters who are able to deliver quality copy, while working independently. Excellent spoken and written English,and good investigative skills, are a must. Having gulf experience is an advantage. Job Description • Supervises preparation of magazine, manage staff , assign and write stories and articles for content, rewrite and edit ensuring that all stories are of interest to the readers. • In charge of team or writers and in this capacity review story ideas proposed by them and generate ideas for them. • Plan the contents of the magazine, assign articles, oversee the work of other editors and select artwork to enhance the message of the articles. • Oversees and manages the production cycle for each issue of the magazine keeping it on schedule • Responsible for making sure that each issue is attractive and readable and maintains the stylistic integrity of the publication. • Determines each article’s placement in the magazine, working closely with the sales, art and production department to ensure that the publications components complement one another and are appealing and readable. • Writes an editorial to generate interest in topics that become popular and stimulate discussion or mold public opinion. .Therefore the editor should know the latest trends in the field the magazine represents. • Interviews individuals and network with others at industry events to obtain items for publication verify facts and clarify information. • Being in charge of the entire production means that ME must maintain and meet all deadlines and enforces the processes and procedure of the editorial workflow. • The editor should know the latest trends in the field the magazine represents. • Raise, maintain and strengthen the profile of the magazine.
